Passes

Transit Benefit Pass
Formerly BEAM or Circuit Breaker (New Connect Photo ID cards will replace all passes-coming soon)
  • Applicants for Transit Benefit Passes must apply online, paper applications will not be accepted at the Connect Transit Office. Those needing to apply should visit the Illinois State Benefit Application Website. Please call Illinois Department on Aging at 1-800-252-8966 for assistance.

  • Persons 64 years of age and under with a disability, may receive help applying for the Transit Benefit Pass may call 309-828-9833
  • Once eligible, applicant can come to Connect Transit with a photo ID.  A photo will be taken and a Free Ride Transit Pass will be issued with an expiration date.
  • Pass holders must display their pass to the driver each time they board a bus. Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
  • The first time a pass is lost it may be replaced for $5.00.  Subsequent lost passes will require $25.00 for replacement.
  • Broken, faded or otherwise damaged passes are replaced at no charge in exchange of the old pass.
Disabled Half Fare Passes
(New Connect Photo ID cards will replace all passes-coming soon)
  • Riders are requested to come to Connect Transit Administration office to obtain a pass.
  • A photo ID and Medicare Card are required to determine eligibility. (a Medicaid card or SSI statement will NOT be accepted)
  • If the rider does not have a Medicare card, an application form and authorization form must be completed by the rider.  A letter with verification questions is then sent to the rider’s physician or social service representative.  Once the physician or social service representative responds to the letter, eligibility is determined.
  • Eligible rider will receive a phone call and request for them to come to The Connect Transit Administrative Office to obtain a pass.
  • A photo will be taken and a Disabled Half Fare Pass is given to the rider, with NO EXPIRATION.
  • Pass holders must display their pass to the driver each time they board a bus. Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
  • The first time a pass is lost it may be replaced for $5.00.  Subsequent lost passes will require $25.00 for replacement.

Senior Free Ride Passes 
(New Connect Photo ID cards will replace all passes-coming soon)
  • Senior Free Ride pass allows riders 65 years of age and older to ride Connect Transit Fixed Route buses for FREE.
  • Riders are requested to come to Connect Transit Administration office to obtain a pass.
  • A photo ID stating age is required.
  • A photo is taken and Senior Free Ride Pass is given to the rider; with NO EXPIRATION.
  • Pass holders must display their pass to the driver each time they board a bus. Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
  • The first time a pass is lost it may be replaced for $5.00.  Subsequent lost passes will require $25.00 for replacement.
  • Broken, faded or otherwise damaged passes are replaced at no charge in exchange of the old pass.
Star Pass (Veterans)
(New Connect Photo ID cards will replace all passes-coming soon)

The Star Pass program is available for any Veteran at our Connect Transit office. This is a lifetime pass that allows zero-fare rides for the holder.

 

Please make your way to our office with an acceptable form of Veteran identification. We accept State ID with "Veteran" status, VA Clinic Cards, Military IDs, or DD Form 214.

ISU Student & Faculty Passes 
(No new cards needed) Tap to Ride Now
  • Students are issued IDs at class registration.  These ISU issued photo IDs can be swiped for free rides on ISU Shuttles and Connect Transit Fixed Route buses.
  • Students must swipe their student IDs through the card reader each time they board a bus. Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
IWU Students & Faculty Passes
(Details coming soon)
  • Students are issues IDs at class registration. These IWU issued photo IDs can be swiped for free rides on any Connect Transit Fixed Route buses.
  • Students must swipe their student IDs through the card reader each time they board a bus. Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
Heartland Community College 
 (new card needed-details coming soon)
  • Students are issued IDs at class registration for each semester.
  • Student must be actively enrolled in Heartland Community/Lincoln College classes.
  • Fare is FREE for Students that present their valid student IDs to the driver each time they board a bus.
  • Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
Illinois Farm Bureau Family of Companies 
(Get benefit code from HR in UMO app-details coming soon)
  • Employee ID badges are issued to all employees.  These company issued photo IDs can be presented for free rides on Fixed Route buses on Connect Transit. 
  • Pass holders must display their pass to the driver each time they board a bus. Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
Town of Normal
 (new card needed-details coming soon)
  • Employee ID badges are issued to all employees.  These company issued photo IDs can be presented for free rides on Fixed Route buses on Connect Transit.
  • Pass holders must display their pass to the driver each time they board a bus. Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented. 
Youthbuild of McLean County
 (new card needed-details coming soon)
  • Students are issued IDs at class registration for each semester.  
  • Student must be actively enrolled and ID must be valid for each semester.
  • Fare is FREE for Students that present their valid student IDs to the driver each time they board a bus.
  • Full fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented OR not current with most recent issued semester sticker.
30 Day Fixed Route Pass
Replaced by fare capping (passes accepted until October 1)
  • Passes are $40.00 and will expire exactly 30 days from the first time they are swiped on the bus. (ex. June 1 to July 1)
  • Requesting a transfer is not required for fixed route pass holders.
  • Passes can be purchased at the Connect Transit Office or at various locations in the Bloomington/Normal area.
  • Pass holders must swipe their pass through the card reader each time they board a bus. Full cash fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
7 Day Fixed Route Pass
Replaced by fare capping (passes accepted until October 1)
  • Passes are $10.00 and will expire exactly 7 days from the first time they are swiped on the bus.
  • Requesting a transfer is not required for fixed route pass holders.
  • Passes can be purchased at the Connect Transit Office or at various locations in the Bloomington/Normal area.
  • Pass holders must swipe their pass through the card reader each time they board a bus. Full cash fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
1 Day Fixed Route Pass
Replaced by fare capping (passes accepted until October 1)
  • Passes are $3.00 and are good from start to end of service day.
  • Requesting a transfer is not required for fixed route pass holders.
  • Passes can be purchased at the Connect Transit Office or at various locations in the Bloomington/Normal area.
  • Pass holders must swipe their pass through the card reader each time they board a bus. Full cash fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
1 Ride Fixed Route Pass
Replaced by fare capping (passes accepted until October 1)
  • One Ride Passes are $1.25.
  • Requesting a transfer is not required for fixed route pass holders.
  • Passes can be purchased at the Connect Transit Office or at various locations in the Bloomington/Normal area.
  • Pass holders must swipe their pass through the card reader each time they board a bus. Full cash fare will be expected to be paid in the event no pass is presented.
ADA Customer Responsibilities
  • If you qualify for ADA complementary paratransit, be aware that it is a origin to destination, shared ride service and that you have responsibilities as a passenger.
  • Make sure you understand the pickup window and vehicle wait time so that you are prepared to board when the vehicle arrives.
  • Reservations must be made 24-hours in advance; no same day reservations.
  • Be prepared for the driver to make stops ahead of yours.  You may not be the first one dropped off even if you were the first to be picked up.
  • Prior to making a trip reservation, review the information needed to book the trip.  Be prepared to provide the necessary information when you call to schedule; such as address, appointment time and phone number.
  • Familiarize yourself with our no-show and late-cancellation policies.  Cancel reservations as soon as you determine you won’t need the trip.  Be aware that you may be penalized for an excessive number of late cancellations or no-shows.
