Job Description:
As a Connect Transit Dispatcher you will be a vital part of the communication hub that connects our customers, Maintenance Department, and the Bus Operators of our paratransit and fixed route services.
Wages:
- First year: $43,535 at $20.94 an hour
- 5% yearly increases

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide exceptional customer service over the phone and in person
- Professionally answer telephones and assist callers as needed
- Provide routing assistance to Bus Operators
- Complete and submit daily reports and documentation
- Respond to requests for assistance using a two-way radio
- Collect and enter service data in appropriate programs
- Relay communications between the Operations, Maintenance, and Administration departments to support the daily operational needs of Mobility Service, Fixed Route, and Microtransit
- Track service interruptions, alert Operators, and record variances
- Complete required yearly trainings (Diversity/Inclusion in the Workplace, Equal Opportunity, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License
- High School diploma or GED
- Acceptable driving record (No serious traffic or license violations within the last five years)
- Pass background check
- Pass Department of Transportation Physical and pre-employment drug test, and willingness to comply with federal drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Ability to work independently, yet take verbal and written direction
- Ability to work when needed, including nights, weekends, early mornings, and split shifts
- Ability to interact with customers of varying abilities in a friendly, patient manner
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to use general office machines, practices, and procedures correctly
- Ability to use math for basic cash transactions
- Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work in a professional group office setting
- Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records
- Ability to meet the physical demands required of this position
